Former France player David Ginola gave reassuring news and joked about the World Cup being organized in Qatar after suffering a heat stroke.

Ginola took to Twitter hours after local newspaper Nice Matin reported he had been airlifted unconscious but in stable condition to the Monaco cardiothoracic center after a heart attack. Officials at the medical facility declined to confirm whether they treated Ginola when reached by The Associated Press.

"Footy match in the midday sun, not very clever," the 49-year-old Ginola tweeted. "Now having some tests done. Whoever voted for a World Cup in Qatar in the summer?"

The 2022 World Cup is set to be in Qatar's winter after FIFA decided to switch the 2022 tournament from June-July to avoid Qatar's searing summers.

According to Nice Matin, Ginola took part in a golf tournament with other sports personalities on Thursday.

Quoting unidentified members of Ginola's entourage, L'Equipe newspaper reported on its website thatGinola was hospitalized because of discomfort, and it was not cardiac-related.

Ginola, who last year failed to secure the required support in a bid for the FIFA presidency, played for Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham, Aston Villa, Everton, and Newcastle.
