The book Pre-Siege Maps of Malta: 2nd century AD - 1564 written by Albert Ganado and Joseph Schirò was launched at an event held on the 3 May 2016 in the splendid ballroom of the Casino Maltese in Valletta. The reviewers were Dr William Zammit, a senior lecturer in the faculty of Media and Knowledge Sciences at the University of Malta, whose major current research project consists of the creation of a bibliographic Melitensia database, and Ms Ritienne Gauci a lecturer in the faculty of Arts, Geography department at the same University, who is reading for her PhD.
The reviews were followed by a short intervention from both authors who thanked all the libraries, colleagues and friends who assisted them with their research, which spanned a 30-year period, since the original pioneering study, was published in 1986.
Mr Julian Sammut, a Trustee of The Alfred Mizzi Foundation who sponsored the book, afterwards presented the sponsorship cheque to the Malta Map Society President, Dr Albert Ganado. The event was followed by a reception and a signing session by the authors.
