President Marie Louise Coleiro Preca today visited the MY Phoneix – the migrant rescue ship run by the Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS).

She was welcomed on board by MOAS founders Christopher and Regina Catrambone.  The President was given an overview of the work carried out by the non-governmental organisation in the Mediterranean Sea.

Mrs Coleiro Preca said she felt privileged to have been given the opportunity to visit the vessel and thanked the Catrambones and their team for the humanitarian work they are carrying out and all the lives they have saved at sea since 2013.

The President also visited the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa and attended a concert by pianist Malek Jandali.

The Maritime Museum is currently hosting the MOAS X CHANGE – a forum on the challenges of migration and the impact this phenomenon has on Euorpe.
