No agreement between government and Opposition on Parliament's workload

Relations between government and Opposition have deteriorated so much they could not even agree on the programme of work of the House.

This became clear at the House Business Committee which met this evening.

The government thus had to list the dates and bills to be discussed with the Opposition limiting itself to hearing the list and only, in extremis, agreeing to conclude discussion on a bill for the transposition of an EU directive as regards the Accountancy profession by 20 June, if possible.

The House will discuss and vote on MTA tomorrow while it will meet in the morning and evening on Wednesday.

Opposition whip David Agius said he got to know about this transposition bill only now and still has to see if the speakers on the Opposition side can be found to take part in the debate.

The Speaker announced that he, the prime minister and the leader of the Opposition had received an anonymous letter and he is still seeing about what it implies. He did not give any more details except to refer to the presence of Perit David Pace.
