Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning officially inaugurated the new BioDNA Laboratory at the Life Sciences Park in San Gwann.

The lab will be headed by Dr Marisa Cassar and will analyse DNA for forensic purposes. It will also form part of the Malta Laboratories Network which will ensure that the science labs in Malta will be used to their full potential.

In comments to journalist after the visit, Dr Joseph Muscat described this new lab as a positive step forward for Malta. He said that although there is a lot of work opportunitie in the science sector, the country lacks qualified people to work in this industry.

He said that a lot of progress has been made in this sector, but now the government must attract more people to step into this sector.
