Watch - Euro 2016: Nico the Parrot aims to end on a high

Wednesday, 6 July 2016, 11:25 Last update: about 9 years ago

Nico the Parrot has had a tough task. Trying to guess the winners of the Euro 2016 games is something that boggles the mind of all football lovers, and given the surprises that we’ve had in this tournament, it must be said that overall the African Grey Parrot has not fared badly.

Who would have thought that Iceland would have made it through to the second round, going on to eliminate England? Who would have bet one cent on Wales reaching the semi-finals? Portugal have not won a game in 90 minutes and yet they are still in with a chance.

We’ve seen pundits on television picking a winning side which ends up losing the game. Some have never guessed correctly once. So, in spite of all the criticism levelled, at 12 correct guesses out of 23 games, Nico has fared pretty well.

Now he has the toughest games of all, the two semi-finals to be played today and tomorrow, and the final to be played on Sunday.

Today, Wales play against Portugal. Let’s see what Nico thinks.
