After the senior national team’s draw against Estonia on Wednesday, the under 21 team will look to continue the positive week when today at 6.00pm at the Hibernians Stadium, they will face Belgium in an official game from Group 1.

The Under 21 team started this group on a high, by winning five points in the first games. But after losing to the next opponents Belgium 2-0, Silvio Vella’s team lost against Montenegro 1-0 and against Czech Republic 7-0 last March.

Malta national Under 21 head coach Silvio Vella rated his opponents as the best team in the group despite the Belgians not leading the group at the moment. “It will not be easy at all. I rate my opponents very highly indeed and in my view the strongest in the group. We are totally focused on this match and an excellent atmosphere is back within this group so this augurs well.”

Silvio Vella confirmed that Daniel Zerafa and Luke Montebello are ruled out injured, and players like Jean Borg and Jurgen Degabriele can be given a starting berth.

Vella also gave his views about Myles Beerman who signed for Glasgow giants Rangers earlier this week. “This player has got potential and we know but he still makes part of our squad so I cannot confirm if he will start tomorrow against the Belgians. But of course definitely in my future plans.

Birkirkara defender Cain Attard who accompanied Vella during this press conference also gave his views about the match tomorrow “We all know the strength in depth of this Belgium team. It will be difficult but as always we will be giving our all tomorrow. We still have three more matches to go and we will be doing our best to get the utmost from them”

After this game the Under 21 will face Latvia and Moldova in the second week of October, with both games will be played at the Hibernians Stadium.
