Alfred Sant pledges ‘eye for an eye’, challenges PN to accept dissidents back

Thursday, 15 September 2016, 07:51 Last update: about 9 years ago

Labour MEP Alfred Sant said the way his Nationalist counterparts voted against the nomination of Leo Brincat for the European Court of Auditors is “is inviting retaliation of the type – an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.”

In his bi-weekly blog on The Malta Independent website, the former Prime Minister also challenged the Opposition Leader to welcome back “with open arms” the people who “voted against the Gonzi administration” in the past legislature.

Without mentioning names, Dr Sant refers to the times when Franco Debono, Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando and Jesmond Mugliett voted against the party line.

Usually, Dr Sant divides his blog into three parts in which he tackles different subjects. But this time, although still divided into three parts, his contribution deals solely with the Leo Brincat failure to convince the European Parliament.

Dr Sant’s vote saved Mr Brincat further embarrassment last week in the EP’s budgetary committee.
