The Attard government primary school was evacuated this morning after several reports of a strong smell of gas in the Attard and Zebbug areas.

The police and the Civil Protection Department confirmed they had received several reports from Zebbug, Attard and Qormi.

A spokesman for the CPD said all available units had been dispatched to the area and air readings were taken but all proved negative for LPG gas. The spokesperson said the ‘gas’ cloud could have been dispersed by the wind by that time.

He also confirmed that the Attard primary school had been evacuated as a precaution but students returned to their classrooms after a short time.
