KPMG donates €750 to ALS Malta during Freshers’ Week

Friday, 7 October 2016, 16:40 Last update: about 9 years ago

For the 4th consecutive year, KPMG was present at the University of Malta for Freshers' Week to usher in the new academic year and welcome freshers during this exciting time in their life.

Titled 'Forge Your Future', KPMG's Freshers' Week tagline served the dual purpose of showcasing KPMG's service offering and associated job opportunities to potential candidates as well as to empower students to forge their future.

A deeper and more meaningful purpose was KPMG's treasure hunt challenge in aid of ALS Malta. Students formed in teams composed of a minimum of 2 and a maximum 5 and set off on a treasure hunt across the campus. Teams pressed a purposely set-up buzzer to denote time of departure and arrival, creating a fun-filled atmosphere and with a hint of healthy competition. Participating teams donated €5 to ALS Malta which was topped up by KPMG. Winning teams were given an instant colour film camera.

Adrienne McCarthy, Head of HR at KPMG, presented a cheque of €750 to Bjorn Formosa, ALS Malta Chairman, stating 'On behalf of KPMG, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the students who rose to the challenge and supported KPMG's initiative to raise funds for ALS Malta.  We launch similar initiatives not only because we wholly embrace corporate social responsibility but also because we are thrilled with the opportunity to take an active part in raising funds for research purposes.'

On his part, Bjorn Formosa commented, 'ALS is not an incurable disease but an underfunded one. Through hard work and dedication we will find a cure.'
