Saturday, 22 October 2016, 16:45 Last update: about 9 years ago

Two vehicles being driven in the same direction from St Julian's to Msida were inches away from falling one storey beneath the Regional Road bridge after a crash this afternoon.

A van, a Toyota Dyna driven by a 40-year-old Syrian who lives in Pieta, and a car driven by a 34-year-old woman of Msida, were involved in a collision at about 4.15pm, with the van hitting a wall on the bridge. Stone slabs were dislodged and fell one storey into the field, but the vehicles and their occupants remained on the road.

Police officers and members of the Civil Protection Department were soon on site.

The two drivers were both unhurt.

Traffic from Paceville towards Tal-Qroqq was affecte until the vehicles were removed.
