American grievously injured in fight with two Libyans in St Julian's

An American national was grievously injured early this morning following an argument he had with two Libyans, the police said.

The incident happened in St George’s Road, St Julian's at 12.45am.

The police said that it was informed that three men were arguing heatedly but, when police officers approached them, one of them ran away.

It resulted that two Libyans aged 33 and 35 were involved in an argument with an American 35-year-old. As police officers were talking to the Libyans, they were informed that close by a third person needed treatment for injuries sustained. It later resulted that this third person was the American.

The police said that during the argument the 35-year-old Libyan pushed the American who felt and hit his head against a skip. He was also punched.

The 35-year-old Libyan needed treatment for slight injuries while the other Libyan refused medical assistance. Both are in police custody.
