Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev today spoke about bilateral issues and the relationship between Russia and the EU in the context of Malta’s upcoming presidency.

The two Prime Ministers signed cooperation agreements in the education, tourism and commerce sectors. It was also announced that Russia will be putting forward a draft agreement on adoptions.

Dr Muscat said Malta looked forward to play its part in the strengthening of relations between Russia and Europe.

 The Russia PM noted that next year will mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and hoped that these would improve further.

The two leaders also discussed international relations and the conflicts in Syria and Libya.
