This boxing photo captured by The Malta Independent sports photographer Domenic Aquilina was awarded the FLF Silver Medal (second place) in the Salon V Salon Internacional de Fotografia Ciudad de Villajoyosa at the Circuito Iberico photographic contest in Spain.

Aquilina’s capture was awarded from a total of 2,190 entries from 190 authors in 39 countries.  The images that made it to the final totalled 210.

Domenic’s capture depicts Maltese boxer Steve Martin (left) and Italian boxer Roberto Mellone (right) entangled in a boxing “hug” during their professional boxing fight in Malta last September, held under the auspicies of the Malta Boxing Association.
