MCAST business institute students meet BOV Chairman

Sunday, 4 December 2016, 19:30 Last update: about 9 years ago

Students from the MCAST Institute of Business Management and Commerce attended a Question and Answer session with the outgoing chairman of Bank of Valletta John Cassar White at the Institute's premises in Paola. Students asked a number of questions about the state of the banking industry and about the general business climate in Europe.

Mr Cassar White explained how new regulations were changing the landscape of banking following the global financial crisis that erupted in 2007. He appealed to students to keep abreast of these changes and to continue with their studies even after qualifying at MCAST because major changes are likely to affect the way business is conducted. "Your graduation marks the beginning of your life journey. To build a career in this industry, you need to further your studies in order to keep abreast of developments." He explained that this is critical to the transition from being a 'good student' to 'good employee'. Mr Cassar White also spoke candidly about the importance that training, whether academic or vocational dovetails with hands-on experience at the workplace.

At the end of the session the MCAST Management presented Mr Cassar White with a memento as a token of appreciation for the support that BOV always gave to MCAST students.
