Amount spent on alcohol by Minister Cardona during Dubai trip is 'an insult to workers' - PN

The amount Economy Minister Chris Cardona spent on alcohol is an insult to people, most of all workers, the PN said today in a statement.

The National Audit Office recently flagged a trip taken by the minister back in 2015, which included a hotel bill that included €756 spent on alcohol, €318 of which was spent on the mini-bar.

"Government's decadence has reached new lows with the news that Minister Cardona and his Chief of Staff drank alcohol worth more than the minimum wage for two days spent in a Dubai Hotel room, charging it to the Maltese people," the PN said.

The PN argued that while families are struggling to survive on the minimum wage each month, it is insulting that the minister drink such amounts when he was meant to be in Dubai for work.

"At this point, it is pointless to ask the minister what results he has achieved, or to ask the Prime Minister whether he will take any action".

"The Prime Minister has lost his moral authority, and the only choice left is for the Maltese people to pass judgement in the upcoming elections".
