Enhanced engines need expert hands

Monday, 19 December 2016, 14:10 Last update: about 8 years ago

Harley-Davidson is all about improvement, styling, torque and feel. The New Milwaukee Eight; the ninth Harley engine in history, has just been rolled out. While retaining its classic 45-degree V-Twin cylinder angle, the Milwaukee eight now produces 10 per cent more torque while featuring four-valve per cylinder, each offering 50 per cent more intake and exhaust flow capacity.

Such technical enhancements require qualified mechanical personnel who possess the technical know-how and expertise to deal with them. That is why Fapi Motors have just had their motorcycle mechanic, Ryan Micallef, attend a training course covering the new technical features of the all-new Milwaukee-Eight engine. Entitled My New Product Training, this course provided service technicians with the opportunity to disassemble and rebuild bench engines, learn about service procedures and learn the ropes of service wear limits of this new powertrain.

Mr Micallef also had the opportunity to attend the 305 Middleweight Powertrain, where he performed a complete dismantle of both a Sportster and a Revolution X engine to assess the condition of components and determine whether they are to be reused, serviced or replaced. He assembled the engine and performed all timing, alignment adjustments and assembly testing as described in the service manual.

Fapi Motors is the local distributor of the Harley-Davidson motorbikes in Malta. Send an email to [email protected]or visit the showroom in Mdina Road, Attard, for further details.
