Maurice Mizzi launches second album in aid of the Spiro Mizzi Foundation

Monday, 19 December 2016, 14:09 Last update: about 8 years ago

On 1 December, Chev. Maurice Mizzi launched his second album, Rhythm & Romance, proceeds of which will all go in aid of The Spiro Mizzi Foundation. He also donated a total sum of €100,000 to the foundation. The celebration, which took place at Dar Sagra Familja in Cospicua, was attended by President Marie Louise Coleiro and Dr Helena Dalli.

During the event, Chev. Mizzi highlighted the hard work the foundation has been doing over the past couple of years and stressed Madre Theresa's words that: "Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love. This applies to our foundation, where in our small way we try our best to help look after nearly 300 young boys and girls from the Cottonera area."

The Spiro Mizzi Foundation is a non-profit organisation in Malta. The foundation was set up by the president of Mizzi Organisation, Chev. Mizzi, to support and honour the new generations born and living in Cottonera and the surrounding harbour area - the birthplace of his late father, Spiridone Mizzi.

Studies have shown that out of a population of 14,000 students attending the University of Malta, only 160 students come from the Cottonera area. Disappointed with the reality of the situation, Chev. Mizzi set up the Spiro Mizzi Foundation to help less fortunate children from this area benefit from the same academic opportunities other children may have in other parts of Malta.

Chev. Mizzi presented a cheque of €100,000 to The Spiro Mizzi Foundation, where funds will be allocated for various investments in classrooms, computers, books, teachers, xtracurricular activities and music instruments, to name a few.

Chev. Mizzi ended the event by wishing a special thanks to Agenda Bookshop for donating books to the children's school library, Dominic Galea and Sammy Murgo for the hard work put into his new CD, as well as all the team that make the foundation work successfully.
