Dress down for charity

Monday, 16 January 2017, 15:11 Last update: about 8 years ago

Thomas Smith staff presented €2,000 to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Malta, raised during last year in return for wearing casual attire to work. Every Friday is a Dress Down day at Thomas Smith Group, with the intent to collect donations from staff and aid those in need. Randomly selected employees then nominate and vote the benefiting charities.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society is a voluntary organisation offering subsidised physiotherapy, occupational and speech therapy, to its members with MS and group psychotherapy sessions for the whole family. The Society provides a voluntary means to enhance and expand public awareness, individual and family services, and rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis.

Carmen Muscat, president of the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Malta, received the donation while praising Thomas Smith employees for the contribution. The support shown towards the Society and its volunteers will not only raise awareness about multiple sclerosis, but will help reach the Society's goal to make a difference to their members, by providing subsidised therapy.

The donation was presented by Liana Cachia, Thomas Smith Group Marketing & Human Resources manager and Thomas Smith employee Glen Farrugia.

Thomas Smith Group and its employees recognise the importance of the charitable organisations in Malta and their continual need for funding. Since the inception of Dress Down Fridays, the programme has donated more than €26,500 to Thomas Smith staff who were in need as well as local charities.
