The government has granted an extension to the board of inquiry investigating Nationalist Party deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami following the publication of an article in Malta Today claiming: ‘Money laundering investigation was not pursued when Fenech Adami’s name cropped up’

The extension was granted following a request by Judge J. D. Camilleri, who requested permission not to submit the report this week but to do so in four weeks’ time.

The report will be submitted in the week during which the European Parliament’s Panama Papers committee will be in Malta as part of an investigation involving Minister Konrad Mizzi and OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri.

The PANA Committee will be in Malta on 20 February.

Malta Today reported that a police investigation that raised the spectre of money laundering was never pursued by the Maltese police, ostensibly when the name of Nationalist MP Beppe Fenech Adami cropped up as one of the directors of a fiduciary services company that handled the affairs of CapitalOne Investment Group.
