Head of EP in Malta to take up post as new EP President Tajani’s speech writer

Malta’s head of the European Parliament will be taking up a post with newly elected European Parliament President Antonio Tajani as his speech writer.

Dr Agius begins his new position on 6 February, and is sure to be missed due to his tireless efforts in communicating the European Parliament and its work to the citizens of Malta.

Mr Tajani was elected on 17 January, replacing Mr Martin Schulz.

Dr Agius began his post with the European Parliament in Malta back in 2012. Prior to this, he was employed with the Council of Ministers in Brussels for 10 years.

His education background includes reading Law at the University of Malta where he graduated in 2000 (LL.B.) and 2003 (LL.D.). In 2006 he graduated Masters in European Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

In 2002 he joined the legal services of the Council of the European Union in Brussels.
