A man was seriously injured this afternoon when he tried to control a horse which had bolted during a race in Marsa, the police said.

The accident happened at 1.30pm at the old racecourse.

The 43-year-old of Dingli was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Te jockey, a 25-year-old of Rabat, was unhurt.
