The European Union has published a research report on How to Prevent and Tackle Bullying and School Violence: Evidence and Practices for Strategies for Inclusive and Safe Schools written by Paul Downes, Dublin City University, Ireland and Carmel Cefai, Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health at the University of Malta.

The report has made various recommendations at EU, country, regional and local levels on how bullying and violence may be prevented in schools and includes a framework which may be adapted by schools to organise themselves as inclusive, safe communities for all children, including those most vulnerable to bullying such as children from minority and migrant backgrounds, LGBTI children and children with individual educational needs.

As one of authors, Professor Cefai was invited to present the findings of the report during a seminar on discriminatory bullying and violence organised by the European Parliament Intergroup on Children's Rights at the European Parliament. Earlier, he was also invited to present the report's findings during a conference on Socially Inclusive Education: connecting better research to policy and practice organised by the European Commission - DG Education and Culture, NESET II and EENEE networks in Brussels.
