Chris Cardona’s support for new press law is proof of government hypocrisy - PN

Nationalist Party Deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami said that Minister Owen Bonnici's comments to The Malta Independent regarding the fact that Minister Chris Cardona was one of the ministers who supported the bill which bans garnishee orders on journalists is a proof of the fallacy and hypocrisy of the "corrupt government at Castille."

Dr Fenech Adami said that Owen Bonnici's comments are a classic example of how Labour exponents act in one way when in front of the camera but act in a completely different way when they are not.

In comments to The Malta Independent, Owen Bonnici said that the same Minister who filed a garnishee order against journalist and blogger Daphne Caruana Galizia, supported the law presented in parliament by the government to ban precautionary warrants from taking place.

Dr Fenech Adami then remarked on the comments made by Dr Cardona, that the Prime Minister believed his version completely. "Now, it also emerged that the same Chris Cardona had informed Joseph Muscat of the intent to file a garnishee order."

The Nationalist Party condemned the attack of the government on the press. Nationalist MP Clyde Puli said that the actions by the government are against freedom of expression. He referred to a story on the PN media which showed "the direct link between Castille, the Labour Party and PBS."
