Porto's Hector Herrera has posted a grim image online of the injury he sustained in Wednesday night's Champions League match against Juventus. But the Juventus defender was not sent off for the challenge, as was Herrera’s colleague Telles earlier in the game

The Mexican midfielder was clearing the ball out of his own box when he was caught painfully by Juve's Stephen Lichtsteiner.

Lichtsteiner's blades came downwards as Herrera's boot swept up, through the ball; the result was a couple of horrific-looking gashes and significant swelling on the top of the 26-year-old's left foot. He needed 17 stitches.

Amazingly, Herrera saw out the full 90 minutes, despite being hobbled by Lichtsteiner in the 50th minute of the game.

Juventus won 2-0 in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie with Porto, nabbing two away goals in the second half after Porto's Alex Telles was dismissed in the first period for two bookable offences within 27 seconds.
