Daphne and Chris, Konrad and Panama, the pastizz and more at Nadur Carnival

Saturday, 25 February 2017, 08:41 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Nadur Carnival, more “outspoken” than the traditional activities held in other parts of the island, was in full swing last night and, needless to say, the focus was on political satire.

It was to be expected that Chris Cardona and Daphne Caruana Galizia were among the highlights of the evening, with the two embroiled in a battle on whether or not the minister visited a brothel in Germany while on official duty.

People wearing masks portraying the faces of the two protagonists were seen mingling with each other and shaking hands, not something that will probably ever come to be in real life.

Of course, a year down the line, Konrad Mizzi and Panama are still very much in vogue, as the minister who carries no portfolio remains linked to the scandal that has dominated local politics for the past 12 months and will carry on doing so at least until we get to vote again.

The pastizz also took the spotlight after the recent controversy which followed the Prime Minister’s decision to take a few heads of government to a famous pastizzeria in Rabat.

Trump and Clinton also made an appearance as did Ganni Attard, a farmer who has been involved in a legal battle over his sheep in a farm he owns in Gozo.
