Monday, 27 February 2017, 14:54 Last update: about 8 years ago

Malta is not only special because of its Baroque buildings. Emmanuele Luigi Galizia remains one of Malta's most distinguished architects; as Superintendent of Public Works he was responsible for the Turkish Cemetery in Marsa, the Addolorata and Ta' Braxia Cemetery as well as the Valletta Market and Victoria Gate along with a number of other important monuments and works. His style ranged from Neo-Classical, Neo-Gothic to Orientalist in inspiration. FAA has invited Prof Conrad Thake author and expert in Maltese architectural history, to deliver an illustrated talk and guide walks around the Turkish Cemetery in Marsa which will open your eyes to the beauty of E.L. Galizia's architectural gems which surround us, as Galizia also designed police stations, monuments, public fountains and much more, including the Moorish summer residences in Sliema's Rudolph Street.
