Celebrating French gastronomy in Malta

Thursday, 23 March 2017, 10:03 Last update: about 8 years ago

After two successful editions, Goût de France / Good France, a worldwide event celebrating French gastronomy was back, on Tuesday, 21 March. More than 2,000 chefs from five continents are participating in this edition.

Dinners served simultaneously in participating restaurants celebrated French cooking, its diversity and unique mix of tradition - local products, regional recipes - and modernity. A repas à la française is above all a time for sharing and enjoying.

This year's edition also marks the beginning of a new partnership between France and the Institute of Tourism Studies. Last Tuesday, the chef of the French Residence accompanied the ITS students in the preparation of a Good France dinner sharing her knowledge on French traditions and techniques, using Maltese products. This dinner was served at the ITS restaurant.

The French Embassy is proud to introduce 10 participating restaurants this year in Malta:

  • Michael's, Archbishop Street, Valletta
  • De Mondion, Xara Hotel, Mdina
  • Legligin, St Lucia Street
  • Rampila, St John's Cavalier, Valletta
  • Ambrosia, Archbishop Street, Valletta
  • Bacchus, Mdina
  • Palazzo Castelletti, Rabat
  • Quadro, The Westin Dragonara Resort, St Julian's
  • Ta' Frenc, Xaghra, Gozo
  • Colloq, Paceville

The ten participating chefs and the ITS met together at the French Residence 13 March to present their 'Good France' menu to TVM.

They had the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience about French cuisine while savouring some specialties prepared by the chef of the French Residence in Zebbug with the oranges and citrus of the garden
