Kappara project: drivers will start using two new slip roads from tonight

Saturday, 25 March 2017, 10:36 Last update: about 8 years ago

Drivers will start using two new slip roads built for the Kappara Project from tonight, as the East side of the project is nearly complete, a Transport Malta statement read.

"Vehicles coming from St. Julian's going towards University Roundabout will start using the newly built slip roads, instead of the current temporary arrangement, and will be able to access Sliema Road once again.  "

"Personnel have laid the first layer of asphalt and painted temporary road markings on the slip roads.  A further two layers of asphalt will eventually be laid when the project is finalised".

"During these past months, personnel have cleared the East area of the site, built supporting walls for a wider road, placed new services and constructed two slip roads.  The works will now focus on the central part of the site, where the bridge will be constructed.  The contractor will construct the final supporting piers, bring over and put in place steel girders constructed in Spain and form the road on top of the flyover. "

"This afternoon after 1300hrs, for safety reasons, vehicles coming from St. Julian's will be diverted onto Triq Reggie Miller, until the new traffic arrangements are implemented.  Kindly follow instructions on site.  The area remains a construction site. The speed limit is 30Km per hour.
