Malta’s iGaming Excellence Awards 2017: helping creative people achieve excellence

Tuesday, 28 March 2017, 16:34 Last update: about 8 years ago

Malta's iGaming Excellence Awards is one of the original and most comprehensive awards events created for the iGaming industry. Malta's iGaming Excellence Awards [MiGEA] are held annually in Malta and have been likened to "the Oscars of gaming". The awards event brings the entire industry together to reward and celebrate the companies and individuals that are constantly working to innovate and improve the industry. The MiGEA philosophy aligns perfectly with that of the Malta Gaming Authority [MGA], and also Gaming Malta.

The first edition of The Malta International iGaming Excellence Awards (MiGEA) will reward excellence in the gaming industry. For the first edition, iGaming companies, casinos, online gaming and other industry players will team up with the organisers and sponsors for the most prestigious and most transparent industry Awards. In a ceremony being held at the Excelsior Hotel in Floriana, providers of innovative services and technologies will receive their deserved recognition in 29 categories.

The organisers are delighted to welcome leading European betting and gaming providers and sincere gratitude goes to all the sponsors of MiGEA. MBR Publications Limited has strict guidelines and provides clear legal regulation standards for such awards in the interests of the customer. It is an outstanding industry example how iGaming companies and their employees should be duly recognised. It was a logical next step to tie the brand and decide to organise such high profile awards. Despite all the difficulties, a comprehensive programme has been drawn, which is widely recognised as the most transparent one when it comes to assess the best of the best in our industry.

"We are extremely pleased to have been welcomed as a member of the elite group of contributors for the first anniversary edition of this great event. Special thanks to Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Dr Emanuel Mallia, for his support. We have been overwhelmed with interest from sponsors, judges and most importantly nominations. Thanks to the support of all these companies, we were able to ensure the success of the event," said Martin Vella, Managing Director of MBR Publications Ltd, organisers of this exceptional event.

"While we hope that MiGEA offers the perfect stage for employees within the industry to start receiving due recognition for the achievements that they have attained during the course of their careers and an unforgettable reward for their accomplishments," commented MBR Publications Ltd's Managing Partner, Margaret Brincat.

"We are very close to our stakeholders and the message coming through loud and clear was their desire for an awards programme for the industry, by the industry, and in conjunction with our partners, nominees and sponsors, which is exactly what we have created. MiGEA will provide an ideal way to launch what is the most comprehensive and international gaming awards in Malta bringing all key industry players under one umbrella," Mr Vella added.

A few of the improvements that have been made to the MiGEA

Anyone working within the iGaming affiliate industry can submit nominations to the MiGEA whether nominating themselves, their organisation or on behalf of an individual or organisation. However, only submit one entry per category and only for those categories relevant to the individual or company. Any applications received for a non-relevant category or any duplicated applications will be void.

Who can enter and why?

Malta's iGaming Excellence Awards is Malta's premier recognition platform for businesses of all sizes in the online gaming affiliate industry. The awards are under the patronage of Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Emmanuel Mallia.

The benefits of entering MiGEA extend far beyond just picking up one of the prestigious trophies in May. Here are the reasons why your organisation should take part in the awards this year:

  • An opportunity to differentiate your business and stand out from competitors
  • Greater recognition for you and your organisation within the industry perhaps leading to additional business as a result
  • Improved business relationships
  • Good marketing and PR opportunities
  • Enhanced motivation
  • Demonstrates to current and future staff that you're a leading company plus the added bonus of attracting excellent and talented employees
  • Publicises your personal credentials to your clients, existing employer and future employers
  • A good opportunity to measure your current performance, consider what has contributed to your success and to look where you can go from there
  • The motivation to sustain this performance in order to retain/beat your competitor the following year!

Criteria: The criteria will be at the forefront of both the nomination and judging process. The criteria will also focus on the last 12 months and not before - the awards will be about outstanding achievements and contributions, both at individual and collective levels and not size.

The Categories: We have increased the number of awards to 29. You can see the full list in this brochure and on the official souvenir programme.

Nominations and voting: The nominations process will remain similar to previous years. We now have a nominations board that will use the information supplied as well as their own industry knowledge to create a shortlist of no more than six to eight judges.

Judging: For judging, the focus will be on the criteria with points allocated to each item to drive accountability and transparency. There is an increased number of judges with a head judge for each category who is accountable for the final decision collated with the fellow judges. The judge's decision will be final but the Chairman of the judges will get involved if it's a tie. The judges will also hold a Q&A with each shortlisted candidate, which will be recorded and made available for you to view. The judges will also create a document for each award that clearly defines why each winner won. Accredited certificates and handsome trophies will also be awarded.

VIP tables: If you want a little something extra, VIP tables will be available to book. These will include head table seating close to the stage, champagne, drinks and personalised silver service.
