University receives over €5 million in fees from foreign students

The University of Malta received a total €5,050,913 in fees from foreign students in the academic year 2015/2016, Minister Evarist Bartolo revealed in response to a parliamentary question tabled by PN MP Chris Said.

A total of €2,905,144 has been received in the current acadmeic year's first semester.

The amount received has increased steadily over the years with €1.5 million received in 2008/2009.

The same parliamentary qeustion also revealed that there are currently 11,653 students (part-time and full-time) attedning the university.

It was also revealed that there are 438 full-time students and 99 part-time students from the EU or EEA area'; and that there are 433 full-time students and 33 part-time students from countries outside the zone.
