San Andrea Early and Middle School recently held an Open Day which centred round Learning Trails.

In the Nursery section, some of the little ones showed off their discovery of the beauty of 'the Jungle, the Sahara Desert, Under the Sea and the Rainforest', while others explored trails through the magical fairy tales of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Bear Hunt, The Three Little Pigs and Hansel and Gretel.

The Grade 1s interactive learning trail was all about The Very Hungry Caterpillar and featured a day full of workshops and fun activities, including learning activities to do with science through the pictures of the different stages of the butterfly. The Grade 2s were encouraged to have a hands-on approach and relate their learning to everyday life by going out of the classroom and into the outdoors.

The theme of the Grade 3s was Little Explorers; they explored surroundings such as the Limestone Heritage, the countryside in Mellieħa and Noah's Ark Dog Sanctuary, while the Grade 4s' trail focused on all the new discoveries in Mathematics, Science, English and Maltese made by the students this year.

The Grade 5s journeyed to Mdina and recreated Vilhena Palace, St Paul's Cathedral and Palazzo Falson at school, while the Grade 6s traced their steps through Malta's Punic, Carthaginian and Roman eras with Shells, Ships and Shields. The Grade 7s offered four different interactive workshops on World War II - a live victory kitchen, children's games that were played during the war, an Axis vs Allies puzzle and an ICT interactive wartime story.

All throughout the day, students and guests alike were also invited to participate in a treasure hunt around the school.
