Thursday, 20 April 2017, 16:54 Last update: about 8 years ago

The Labour Party has declined an invitation by the Nationalist Party to discuss the findings of the commission launched by the PN on party financing.

In a statement PL said that while it thanks the PN for the invitation and wihtout ignoring the importance of such a matter, the party will not attend such meeting as they feel that Simon Busuttil is still breaching the party finincing law.

"At the same time when the PN launched this Commission, Simon Busuttil is still ongoing with an attack on the Electoral Commission, the regulator of the party financing in Malta, trying to undermine the respect enjoyed by this entity."

The Labour Party said that the PN has created a scheme to raise funds while bypassing the party financing law. They also mentioned the "fake invoices" scheme linked with the db Group saga.

"The workings of this commission are already undermined by the very person who launched it."
