Holy Communion and Confirmation celebrations postponed due to snap election

Holy Communion and Confirmation celebrations which were to be held on Sunday 4 June will be postponed due to the snap General election being held a day before, according to a Curia spokesperson.

In reply to a question by The Malta Independent, the spokespserson said that the matter was discussed this morning during a meeting of the College of parish priests presided over by the Archbishop.

"It has been decided that the celebrations on Sunday 4 June, namely feasts and the administration of the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation, would be postponed," the spokesperson confirmed.

The Feast of Ghaxaq, which was scheduled for Sunday 4 June, will be celebrated instead on 25 June 2017. 

On Monday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat dissolved parliament and called a snap election for 3 June, one year earlier than the end of the legislature.

The Feast of St Philip in Haz Zebbug will also be postponed from the weekend of the General election to the week between 11 and 18 June.
