Both the Labour Party as well as the Nationalist Party are in favour of starting a national discussion on the legalisation of cannabis.

As the election campaign reaches the first weekend, it was Prime Minister Joseph Muscat who breached the subject while taking part in a discussion programme on the PL station.

He said that should he be re-elected, he would open talks on the legalisation of the drug.

In reaction, PN leader Simon Busuttil also said that he was in favour of an informed discussion based on scientific research about the regularisation of the use of recreational marijuana.

The stand is also supported by PD leader Marlene Farrugia.
