AMuSE - standing for 'Artistic Multi Sensorial Experience' - is an artistic project led by the Malta Society of Arts (MSA) which aims to create new readings of the content of the senses (such as tactile, kinaesthetic and proprioceptive) and their role within the arts. It will culminate in an exhibition of multi-sensory work to be held in 2019 at MSA's premises at Palazzo de La Salle in Valletta.

Under the umbrella of the Creative Europe Culture Sub-programme (2014-2020), AMuSE was selected out of the 386 eligible applications falling within the smaller scale category and will obtain funding together with another 65 projects. The artistic director will be Roderick Camilleri, while Joe Scerri will be the project manager.

The project aims to promote the integration of the senses into the process of art-making and its exhibition to the public. It also plans to create a platform for transnational mobility between emerging and promising artists. The project will take the form of a consortium made up of four partners with a background in art, culture, cultural tourism and creative industries from four European countries. Through the work of 16 selected emerging artists (four from each participating country), these partners will be working together to provide new research in inter-sensorial forms of art and culture, and will blend visual arts with applied arts and local traditions to strengthen and develop diverse audiences.

The Malta Society of Arts is the lead partner of AMuSE, and it submitted the labour-intensive application last November with the help of the Creative Europe Desk Malta. The rest of the project's team from the three collaborating countries is made up of Le Terre dei Savoia (Italy), Dusetos Culture Centre (Lithuania) and the Stichting Business Development Friesland Start-up Incubator (Netherlands). The Valletta 2018 Foundation and Easy School of Languages (Malta) are Associate Partners.

In the coming months, the MSA will be investing a lot of energy into this exciting project by exploring different modes of artistic expression starting from the senses.
