Health Department releases information on voting process at hospitals

The Health Department has released information concerning hospital patients who will vote in the general election on 3 June.

Patients who enter hospital before 6pm on Monday 29 May 2017

Recovering patients who entered Mater Dei, Mount Carmel, Karen Grech, and the Gozo General Hospital before Monday 29 May at 6pm will be eligible to vote at their respective hospitals

The voting will take place on Thursday 1 June between 7am and 10pm.

Patients who enter the same hospitals after 6pm will vote on Saturday 3 June in the area indicated on their voting document.

The doctor in charge of the patient will decide whether or not the individual can leave the ward.

Those who will not be allowed to leave will be able to vote within the hospital, or can use private transport to get to the voting booth.

Those who will take patients through private transport, will need to seek written consent from the hospital administrator which says that the patient has recovered.

For those who choose to ignore the advice of the doctor will need to sign a declaration saying that it is their own responsibility.

Older Residents at Mount Carmel and Sir Paul Boffa

Older Residents of Mount Carmel and Sir Paul Boffa, who entered before Saturday 20 May, will vote within the residences.

They will vote on Saturday 27 May between 7am and 10pm.

Those residents who entered after will have to vote on election day within the areas indicated on their voting document.

Voting Documents

Patients are reminded to have their voting documents on their person on voting day.

There will also be special administrative arrangements for those who would trust their vote with hospital authorities.

Visiting Times on Voting Day

 
Visitors will not be allowed to enter Mount Carmel and Sir Paul Boffa on Saturday 27 May.

On Thursday 1 June visiting hours will be restricted 7pm and 8pm at Mater Dei, Karen Grech, Mount Carmel Hospital, Gozo General Hospital.

On Saturday 3 June, visiting hours at Mater Dei will be between 7pm and 8pm
