The Malta Independent will provide new FIAU leaked information to magistrate

Saturday, 27 May 2017, 08:41 Last update: about 8 years ago

Following revelations published in The Malta Independent of yet another Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) report that reveals how money was transferred from a company connected to Armada Floating Gas Services Malta into Panamanian companies owned by then Minister for Energy Konrad Mizzi and Prime Minister's Chief of Staff Keith Schembri, The Malta Independent will make the leaked information available to the inquiring Magistrate.

Speaking to the newsroom, TMI's Director of Content Pierre Portelli said "as we've done with the first FIAU report leaked to The Malta Independent we will again pass on what we have on the matter to the inquiring Magistrate."

Visibly stunned with the new revelations, the Prime Minister said during Xarabank's debate that even he has a whistleblower and was told that the news of another investigation into the dealings of his Chief of Staff and former Energy Minister were fake.

Soon after the debate was over, around midnight, a short and unprecedented press release by the FIAU denied that there was any "conclusive report or conclusions as are being alleged".

The FIAU did not deny the existence of the report but confirmed what The Malta independent said in its story that is wasn't concluded.

Sources told this newsroom that the 120-page report with damning evidence on Dr Mizzi and Mr Schembri is under lock and key within the Unit awaiting conclusion. The Malta Independent has seen extracts of this damning report that shows how investigations by the unit revealed that there were two attempts to transfer money to 17 Black from Orion Engineering group (a company registered at the same address and having the same involved parties as Armada Floating Gas Services Malta Ltd).
