Two Syrians arriving by ferry in Pozzallo from Malta have been detained on suspicion of terrorism as G7 leaders were meeting in Sicily, Italian news agency ANSA is reporting.

The two Syrians, a 25-year-old and a minor, are reported to have ties to Libya and anti-terrorism police reportedly found images on their mobile phones of suicide bombers with explosive belts.  The photos had Arabic script reading “From today no mercy”.

Both, according to ANSA, had been registered in Italy previously as refugees.

They were arrested after security was heighted at Sicilian ports as G7 leaders are meeting in Taormina.
