Konrad Mizzi receives 4,968 first count votes on 4th district, four times more than 2013

Konrad Mizzi has received 4,968 first count votes in the fourth district, despite the constant controversy he has found himself in since being elected back in 2013.

He had remained relatively out of the media's eye for the majority of the campaign.

The minister was at the centre of the Panama Papers scandal, where it was found that he had acquired a company in Panama. He has been questioned by the European Parliament's Pana Committee.

This newsroom has also taken documentation from an FIAU report, which includes revelations relating to a company connected to Armada Floating Gas Services Malta (owners of the LNG tanker berthed in Marsaxlokk) and Minister Mizzi, to inquiring magistrate Aaron Bugeja.

The minister has constantly denied any wrongdoing.

In the 2013 general election Dr Mizzi obtained 1,002 first count votes on the 4th districs, advancing to 5,265 votes in the second count.

On the fourth district, thus far only one person received more first count votes than Minister Mizzi, and that is Minister Chris Fearne who received 5,405 votes.
