The Maltese national team this evening obtained an encouraging win against Ukraine ahead of its World Cup qualifying match this weekend.

Malta beat Ukraine 1-0 in a match played in Austria, with the only goal scored by defender Zach Muscat (above, left) after only 14 minutes.

Malta then held on to the Ukrainians’ attempts to equalise.

Malta will be facing Slovenia on Saturday.
