The Partit Demokratiku has expressed its hope that the newly appointed Cabinet adheres to the words in the oath "and place their loyalty to the interests of the country first."
"To our dismay, we observe that financial services and citizenship are now under the OPM. Two portfolios connected to the ongoing magisterial investigation. It is also unfortunate that the Prime Minister could not find less tainted persons among those who were elected to entrust with the Minister of Tourism and Air Malta, but decided on reappointing Konrad Mizzi in his cabinet."
"Furthermore, the Prime Minister decided on keeping Keith Schembri as his chief of staff despite his dubious behaviour and the opening of company in Panama back in 2013, few months apart from when the Labour Party came into power."
Finally, Partit Demokratiku questioned the decision of appointing Robert Abela, now a democratically elected Member of Parliament, as a consultant to the OPM, "when he forms part of parliament and one should distinguish between the parliament and the executive."
"On a more positive note; it is good to see Justyne Caruana will be taking care of the Ministry for Gozo. We augur all newly appointed Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries well. Hopefully they will keep in mind that they now represent all the citizens and residents of the Maltese Islands"
