The decision taken by the Nationalist Party on the districts to be ceded by candidates elected twice has cut newcomer Ivan Bartolo’s political career short, as he has acalled it quits.

In a Facebook status Bartolo said that “my short career in politics comes to an end today. The executive members of the PN decided to vote to keep the 9th District closed.”

The PN candidate contested on the 9th district, where he obtained 1,204 votes in the first count.

The PN executive committee decided that both Robert Arrigo and Marthese Portelli retained their 9th district seat while relinquishing the 10th and 13th district, from which they were also respectively elected.

Bartolo who was seen as a rising star thanked all those who believed in a fresh look, in a new beginning and in new progressive positive ideas.

In his comments on Facebook he added that, “politics is no longer on my radar.”

Among those who commented on his wall was former Labour MEP election candidate Kirill Micallef Stafrace. He said, “well done Ivan, Welcome to the cut-throat internal party politics that favour mediocre politicians rather than actually successful stalwarts of society.”

Bartolo is the founder of software company 6PM.
