UM academic elected chairman of European Accelerator Technology Initiative

Dr Ing. Nicholas J. Sammut, deputy dean Faculty of ICT, has been elected chairman of the Governing Board of the Aries European Initiative ‒ Accelerator Research and Innovation for European Science and Society.

Aries brings together the major European laboratories, infrastructures, universities and industries in the field of accelerator technology. Its main goal is to avoid duplication of efforts and to coordinate the development of novel concepts to improve existing accelerator technologies.

This multi-million initiative will provide access to top-class accelerator research and test infrastructures to European researchers and industry. It is also intended to further integrate the European accelerator community and to develop a joint strategy towards sustainable accelerator science and technology.

Aries is co-funded by the partners and the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 Programme, Grant Agreement 730871.
