The Marsascala local council has decided to appeal the decision taken by the Planning Authority that would see the demolition of one of the oldest buildings in Marsaskala.

The development application proposed the demolition of the building, and the construction of a restaurant and overlying single residence.

The local council described the site as being more than 100 years old, featuring in any pictures /portraits of Marsaskala.

"The Marsaskala Local Council cannot understand the reason why the Supretindent of Cultural Heritage, the case officer and the Planning Authority gave the green light for such a historic building."

As a reaction to all of this, the Marsaskala Local Council took on the responsibility to safeguard this historic landmark and will be appealing against such a decision.
