Police officers rescued an abandoned puppy, even finding it a new home, going above and beyond the call of duty.
The police published Chase' (the puppy) story on Facebook.
On the 29 June 2017, a police officer stationed at the Police Community and Media Relations Unit (CMRU) was anonymously informed that a puppy might have been abandoned in Zabbar/Xghajra area.
The officer searched the area however the dog could not be found. With no other options available, the officer posted an appeal on the Dacebook page Rubs Puppy Love asking for anyone who might have seen the puppy to contact her.
On Monday 3 July, a woman found the puppy in question, while another woman called, offering to foster the puppy until a home could be found.
The puppy was named Chase.

Chase was taken directly for a check-up at the vet by the new foster carer, however the three-month-old puppy tested positive for parvo, a contagious virus. Since the new foster carer had other dogs at home, she had to bring Chase back to the office, as the vet advised that the puppy should not be in contact with other dogs.
Another police officer offered to shelter the puppy, until it was medically fit to go back to his foster carer. The dog was unable to sleep alone, and one officer offered to sleep near Chase for the next few nights.
"In between Police week commitments, shift duties and personal commitments, Officers managed to take Chase to the vet every morning, picking him up again in the afternoon for the following six days," a police statement read
On 10 July, Chase tested negative and was declared cured from parvo. He was then taken back to the foster carer.
"Christa Cilia, the kind-hearted woman who was fostering Chase called to inform CMRU that she fell in love with the puppy and will adopt him together with her other 6 dogs."
