A police drug raid took place at the New Tiger Bar in Marsa, with many officers on site.

In a statement, the police said that the police received information which led the Drugs Squad, the Valletta District Police and the Special Interventions Unit to raid the bar, as well as the apartment block adjacent to it. Cannabis and synthetic drugs were found packeted and ready to be sold, the statement read.

The police said that a number of people were being held for questioning.

Pictures from the scene showed more than 20 heavily armed SWAT officers. Sniffer dogs, as well as ambulances and paramedics were on site, while drones were also used. At least one man was being given medical treatment.

This is not the first time this bar has been raided.

The site is next to the Marsa Open Centre.
