The Mermaids Club Malta is a new project for Adults and Children created to allow people to escape the real world and enter into one of fairy tales. The club only started four weeks ago, yet has already taken over the Island with mermaid enthusiasts eagerly ready to flap their tails.

The brain behind the club is 31-year-old Aleksandra Narbekova, from Ukraine, who had a childhood dream of being a mermaid. Aleksandra told The Malta Independent: “I had the idea since I was a child. I always wanted to be mermaid and I was always fascinated by unicorns and magical creatures so making it my job was a dream come true.”

The Mermaid Club allows you to plunge into the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean in the most elegant way possible. The creator of the club explained what a day as a mermaid involves. “Our customers have the unique experience and opportunity to be real mermaids. We provide beautiful mermaid suits for customers who are then able to swim in the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, in Malta, Gozo or Comino, and take a magical photoshoot.”

Aleksandra also gives the unique, one-hour swimming lessons herself.

The club ensures that each mermaid experience is as realistic as possible. “We provide everything from costumes, to hair accessories to glitter and jewellery.”

In what is truly a one-woman show, Aleksandra creating the costumes herself and runs the club on her own.

When asked what is to come from the club in the future, Aleksandra said: “I have so many plans for the future but it’s still a secret for now.”
