Commitment to fighting corruption – Adrian Delia, PN leader hopeful

Sunday, 20 August 2017, 11:00 Last update: about 8 years ago

Nationalist Party (PN) leader candidate Adrian Delia spoke of his commitment should he be elevted leader to fighting corruption in a message to the councillors, paid up members and other committee members.

“We do not live in a normal country. Institutions are not functioning as they should and the PN has again found itself in a position where it must fight the corruption created under the government of Joseph Muscat”, he said.

“I appeal to those with good will within the government who find themselves disgusted with the corruption creeping into each level to stand up and be heard. Do not let your party again be labelled in the ugly way it was in the 70s and 80s, as the party of corruption,” he added.

Delia drew experience from fighting corruption in football, having been the president of Birkirkara FC. He said that his family and himself have been subject to threats and vindication for fighting corruption, and he would let nobody intimidate him.

He praised outgoing PN leader Simon Busuttil’s ongoing efforts to fight corruption without fear, hoping that come 16 September Busuttil will work shoulder-to-shoulder with the new leader and other MPs to fight corruption.
