Thursday, 7 September 2017, 09:28 Last update: about 8 years ago

At a recent informal gathering for members and friends the MADC Chairman, Martin Azzopardi was pleased to announce all that this prolific theatre group has in store for it's patrons in the forthcoming 2017/2018 Theatre Season.

This Thursday 7th September sees the first of four exciting nights of MADC's annual One Act Play Festival which consists of five competing plays directed by blossoming young directors, Christian B. Gauci, Colleen Emily Genovese, Jacob Farrugia, Jesmond Pace and Audrey Scerri.  Months of hard work by onstage and backstage teams promise to make this Festival interesting, entertaining and not-to-be-missed!

Hot on the heels of the One Acts MADC is proud to present Skylight by renowned playwright David Hare.  This stimulating play with it's mix of politics and love stars Stephen Oliver, Simone Spiteri and Alex Weenink in the main roles and is directed by the talented Andre' Agius.  Dates for this play are the last weekend of September and the first weekend of October with a special Notte Bianca early start at 6.30pm on Saturday 7th October.  Don't miss this play which is taking place in the stunning newly refurbished Valletta Campus Theatre (ex MITP).

Ever popular fairytale Cinderella is MADC's Panto choice for this Christmas.  Held at the MFCC Ta' Qali, direction is in the capable hands of experienced director, Chris Gatt.  Filled to the brim with comedy and music and dancing and colour and spectacle it is for all the family to enjoy!  Opens Friday 22nd December followed by a week-long run of matinees and evening performances.

In mid-March it's back to the MADC Playhouse for California Suite, a comedy by Neil Simon directed by Justin Kyle Camilleri and Joe Depasquale.  This faintly adult-themed set of four playlets gives us a glimpse of what the guests of Suite 203-204 of the Beverley Hills Hotel are up to!

Back to San Anton Gardens in July to celebrate eighty years since MADC's first production of Shakespeare's plays at this charming venue with a new rendering of As You Like It which was also the play produced in 1938.  Direction is in the hands of popular actor-cum-director Philip Leone Ganado.
